Frequently Asked Questions [FAQ]

Our Hours & After-Hours Options
We’re open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

For your convenience, we offer after-hours drop-off and pick-up options, and we’re always happy to accommodate special requests whenever possible.

You’ll find our secure drop box located to the left of the front door. Simply open the box, fill out an envelope with your contact and vehicle information, place your keys inside, and drop it through the slot.

We’ll take it from there and follow up with you promptly.

Waiting Appointments & Drop-Off Recommendations
We have limited availability for clients to wait on-site during service. In most cases, we recommend dropping off your vehicle, as this allows us to serve more clients and complete repairs more efficiently.

If you’re able to leave your vehicle with us for the day, you may be scheduled sooner and experience a quicker turnaround.

Warranty & Recall Information
As an independent repair facility, we are not affiliated with vehicle manufacturers. Any recall work or factory warranty repairs covered by the dealer should be handled by your local dealership.

We do, however, work with many third-party warranty providers. If you have a third-party warranty, give us a call—we’ll schedule your appointment and work directly with your warranty company to handle the repairs.

Estimates & Inspections
We can provide estimates for some basic services over the phone. However, due to Chicago’s harsh driving conditions, many repairs require extra labor and depend on the specific condition of your vehicle.

To ensure an accurate estimate, we recommend scheduling an appointment so we can inspect your vehicle in person.

Customer-Supplied Parts Policy
We do not install customer-supplied parts—and here’s why:

When we install a part, we take full responsibility for the entire repair, including the part, labor, diagnostics, warranty coverage, and even towing if needed. This ensures your peace of mind and a repair you can count on.

Parts we don’t supply can’t be guaranteed for quality, fit, or coverage, and we wouldn’t be able to stand behind the work. That’s why we only install parts sourced through our shop—reliable parts we trust.

Emissions Repair & Testing Info
If your vehicle has failed the Illinois EPA emissions test, we can diagnose and repair the issue to help it pass.
Please note: We do not perform official emissions testing. The nearest IL Air Team Testing Facility is located at:
6959 W. Forest Preserve Ave, Chicago, IL 60634

At Ted’s Auto Clinic, we specialize in modern North American and Asian vehicles (model year 2010 and newer).

Classic and exotic cars often require specialized parts, tools, and expertise. To ensure your vehicle receives the attention it deserves, we recommend visiting a shop that specifically services classic or exotic vehicles.

Electronics & Accessories Policy
We service most factory-installed electronics and accessories, thanks to our access to OEM repair information.

However, we do not install or service aftermarket remote start systems, infotainment units, or other electronic modifications. For aftermarket installations, we recommend ABT Electronics or another specialized installer with expertise in custom electronics.

At Ted’s Auto Clinic, we’re committed to quality, integrity, and expert service. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • We back our work with a 2-year / 24,000-mile warranty

We may not be the cheapest shop in town—but our reputation for trusted service and long-term value speaks for itself.
